 | | | | Most of the equipment included with the Weather Watchers Kit is intended for outdoor use. Why not locate the equipment in the school courtyard? Pupils can then visit the weather station and log the current readings on the record pad provided. Information can then be entered on to the PC using the Skymet Observer software included. Data for several weather variables including temperature, humidity, rainfall, wind speed and direction can be stored.
You can then involve the weather information in class activities. Compare data with another weather station anywhere in the UK using the internet resource feature of Skymet. Mark the location of your school on the UK map and allow the children to take turns to stick on the weather symbols indicating what the weather is like today.
The Weather Watchers Kit can be used in various Key Stage 1 and 2 subjects including, Geography, Mathematics and ICT.
