How do I set my pressure on a WS3600?
The WS3600 allows you to correct your barometer to take into account the height of your location above sea level. It is pre-set to 1013 hPa, the standard air pressure at sea level.
However pressure decreases with altitude, so if you live on a hilltop your air pressure will be lower.
A rule of thumb is that pressure varies by: 1 inch of mercury per 1000ft 1 millibar/hPa per 8 metres
So, if you live in a location 240 metres (787 feet) above sea level, you'll need to subtract 30 hPa from your standard pressure (240/8=30). This gives you a pressure of 983 hPa.
This is good enough for most purposes but may not be 100% accurate at extremes of air pressure.
The weather station will compute the current air pressure, which can be verified by visiting our weather website, http://skylinkweather.com where you can find the latest sea level pressures for many UK locations.
