| Once a station connection has been established, further detail regarding the reception strength is available through the diagnostic screen. To access the diagnostic screen, hold down TEMP and then press HUM on Vantage Pro 2 models or TIME on the Vantage Pro 1 model, the display should then change. Once in the diagnostic screen, press 2nd then press CHILL to enter the reception diagnostic screen. There are two very useful pieces of information on this page, the percentage figure on the top row (this shows the percentage of transmitted data packets that were received successfully without any errors) and the figure to the right of this. This value is the signal strength of the last packet received and ranges from 20 to 60 (-- is displayed when signal strength is too low to receive). For a reliable operation, we recommend looking for a success rate of 80% or higher and a signal strength of approximately 35 or more. Holding DONE for a few seconds returns you to the normal data display. If the reception rate is low there are some steps that can be taken to improve it. -Turning Gain ON can boost reception rates, to do this enter the diagnostic screen, then press HI/LOW. Gain status (on/off) is displayed is the lower left corner of the diagnostic screen. NB. Not all Vantage Pro 2 stations can change the Gain status. -Relocating the console to a more suitable position, either closer to the station or allowing for a clearer line of sight with the ISS. -Incorporating a wireless repeater to transmit around obstructions or to allow transmission over greater distances. Wireless repeaters can be purchased here. When you want to recheck the reception rates, after relocating or altering any equipment you will need to clear the existing data so that fresh reception data is displayed. To clear the data, first enter the diagnostic screen, press 2nd then immediately press and hold CLEAR until the numbers stop flashing and revert to zeros. After a couple of minutes check the reception percentage to receive an indication of the reception rate in that position. Holding DONE for a few seconds returns you to the normal data display. |
