| | The CS110 Electric Field Meter measures the vertical component of the atmospheric electric field. It is used in research applications for detailed measurement of the local electric field and electric storms but the unit can also be used for lightning warning applications.
Instead of the traditional rotating vane field mill, the C5110 uses a reciprocating shutter electrically connected to ground potential by a flexible stainless steel strap. The strap operates below its fatigue limit, resulting in an ultra-reliable electrical ground connection to the shutter. The use of a reciprocating shutter improves DC measurement performance, reliability, and reduces power consumption when compared to a more typical rotating field mill sensor. | |

 | | | | Reciprocating Shutter resulting in an ultra-reliable electrical ground connections Simplified Maintenance due to self-checking, monitors internal humidity, insulator cleanliness/power supply voltage, and verifies that CS110 components.
The CS110 contains an embedded CRl000 data logger, sealed connectors for attaching meteorological sensors, and three digital control ports for controlling external devices and / or triggering alarms. The data logger measures the sensors, processes the measurements, stores the data in tables, and can initiate communications.
An embedded CR1000 data logger within the system provides flexibility for additional meteorological measurements, control, and network integration.
Power requirements are low at 9.6 to 16 VDC with peak-current demand at 750 mA during motor operation.
An ultra-reliable metallic ground connection of stator/rotor (with no rotating contact) means the sensor should last several years of constant use.
