Gold Award for our Green Achievements!
Skyview Systems is delighted to announce that we have received the Suffolk Carbon Charter Gold Award for our carbon reduction efforts throughout our business practises.
Skyview operates as a small, family-run business based in Sudbury, Suffolk, with a shared passion for improving the world around us and inspiring others to do the same. Having delivered weather monitoring solutions to organisations and individuals nationwide for over 30 years, monitoring and protecting the environment remains at the heart of everything we do.
Since our beginning in 1989, we have consistently prioritised our green objectives, firstly, by the measures taken within our internal office environment and ecommerce operations; and secondly, through our long-standing services to the industrial and commercial sectors to enable safe and energy-efficient operations.
Our commercial team delivers weather monitoring solutions to many industrial and commercial organisations nationwide. With a client portfolio that includes National Police Air Service, the London Eye, Air Ambulances and Felixstowe Docks to name but a few, we are in a unique position to assist a broad range of sectors in streamlining their operations, thus minimising manpower, energy usage and ultimately reducing carbon emissions on a large scale.
Whether assisting power stations in Great Yarmouth or Lowestoft in maximising the efficiency of their turbines, or ensuring that emergency services have the critical data needed to avoid taking off during unsuitable conditions, to avoid burning surplus fuel, our environmental scope is far-reaching.
The Carbon Charter is awarded to organisations that are monitoring and actively reducing their carbon emissions. It is intended to provide public recognition of this vital step to the shared goal of “Creating the Greenest County”, of which we are fully invested in.
The Carbon Charter Panel noted that it was particularly impressed with our significant emissions reductions since the installation of Solar PV, as well as excellent communication levels regarding climate change initiatives, both internally and externally, to promote proactive action and community engagement. The Panel were happy to note the various steps taken towards reducing vehicle emissions, such the installation of EV charging points and the purchase of an electric pool car with a commitment to move towards 100% electric fleet by 2028.
As part of our Carbon Charter journey, Skyview had the pleasure of working with Groundwork East to consult on how to set short-term and long-term measureable goals to significantly reduce carbon emissions. This award has a special significance to us as a team and we are thrilled to have received the top tier recognition by the Carbon Charter for our efforts to date.
We had the honour of being presented with our coveted Gold award at the flagship Carbon Charter Woolley Summer Party held in Freckenham in July 2021 - an event that brings together like-minded, inspirational and forward-thinking businesses from across the region. We are grateful to the Carbon Charter panel and members for their continued support and we look forward to continuing our Carbon Charter journey and encouraging others to participate in the excellent initiatives that we are lucky to be a part of!
"The Gold Charter is only awarded to organisations deemed to be exemplifying best practice in terms of demonstrating significant reductions in carbon emissions and championing the environmental agenda… Congratulations on your commendable achievement!" - Peter Frost, Environment Strategy Officer on behalf of the Carbon Charter Panel
"Even in the current climate of remote working and global uncertainty, we are proud to have been able to come together as a team to achieve the Gold Suffolk Carbon Charter award. It is a prestigious honour and we are incredibly proud of our staff and their contributions. Meteorological events are dominating the headlines on a regular basis around the world, and we can’t ignore the impact that our individual and collective actions can have to reduce carbon emissions. I strongly feel that businesses working towards a greener outlook will be able to proposer around the world, and at Skyview, as a weather company that has been helping clients for 30 years, we feel well placed to benefit from connecting with like-minded companies to transition to a greener future." - Nic Hart, MD - Skyview Systems
